Sick Time

Updated on February 5th, 2024

Sick Time provides income to bridge the gap during the 10 day waiting period when short-term disability benefits may become available.

Eligible employees (A1-A3 employees, or those working at least 30 hours per week) accrue Sick Time based on actual hours paid up to a maximum of 48 hours. Accrual rate is .03125 per hour to a maximum of 2.5 hours per 80 hour pay period. Please review policy HR- Sick Leave for further information.

Requirements

Sick Time may be used after 90 days of employment. Hours are used only for an absence from work of more than three consecutive work days, surgery, hospitalization, or a long-term medical problem not requiring hospitalization but reoccurring within a 3-day period. For illnesses which last more than 24 consecutive scheduled work hours - the first 24 scheduled hours will be paid out of paid leave, or unpaid if no paid leave is available before sick time can be accessed. A physician’s written verification is required for circumstances such as a hospitalization, outpatient procedures, illness or injury that does not require hospitalization.
