Pharmacy Benefits

Updated on December 15th, 2023

As a member of the Carle Employee Health Insurance plan, you have access to robust pharmacy benefits as well.

It is important to remember that team members can help control their out of pocket costs and the costs to the health plan by following these guidelines:

  • Comparison Shopping – The same prescription might cost different amounts and different pharmacies. Apps like GoodRx can assist you in finding the right price. Be sure to check if the pharmacy is in-network. First, log into your Hally account then click Find Care > Find a Pharmacy.
  • Mail Order – You can save a trip to the pharmacy and send medications directly to your home in 90-day prescriptions. Visit Health Alliances’ Pharmacy Benefit Manager, OptumRx for more information. In order to create an account with OptumRx, you will need your Health Alliance Member number.
  • Coupons & Rebates – Drug manufacturers often provide coupons or rebates for expensive medications. Inquire with the pharmacist or your physician if these are provided for your medications.
  • Generics & preferred brands – Discuss the option for generic or preference brand prescription to receive the lowest possible copay and price.
  • Avoid Drug Interactions – Talk with your provider or pharmacist about all of the medication and supplements that you are taking. Sometimes combinations of prescription medication, over the counter medications and vitamins/supplements can have side effects that can be costly and dangerous.

More information, tools and resources regarding your pharmacy benefits can be found on the OptumRx website. You will need your Health Alliance member number when logging in the first time.
