DailyPay FAQs

DailyPay is a voluntary benefit that allows you to track, save and transfer your earned available balance on your own schedule. With DailyPay, you can track your daily income with updates after every shift you work, transfer earnings instantly or the next business day, automatically save a portion of your paycheck and access free financial wellness tools.

Benefits of DailyPay for Carle Health team members:

  • Helps improve financial stability by enabling on-time bill pay.
  • May reduce dependence on familial family support.
  • Helps provide support to those who live paycheck to paycheck.
  • May reduce financial stress.
  • Pick up a second shift and get paid the next day.
  • Cover an unexpected expense that comes up before payday.
  • Transfer pay to a savings account to help save for the future.

How does Daily Pay work?

For each active work hour, you build an available balance. A portion of these earnings can be transferred early, if needed.

How much does it cost?

There is no fee for signing up with DailyPay or accessing funds the next day. You may only pay a fee when you make a same day transfer.

What happens on payday?

On payday, you will receive your net earned pay, less any early transfers and fees. Since DailyPay uses Wells Fargo, these will appear as “DailyPay” or “Wells Fargo” on bank statements.

When will my transfer be deducted from my paycheck?

DailyPay offers Continuous Pay Access, which is a feature that allows team members to transfer funds from a pay period which has ended but not yet been paid, ensuring continuity of pay access even in the transition between pay periods.

Team members can track their earnings with DailyPay, including which pay period is funding their Available Balance. When more than one pay period is funding their Available Balance, the amount from each period will be visible in the pretax earnings card on the home screen. Transfers are funded using a “first-in, first-out” methodology; the earlier pay period will always be used first. In scenarios where the earlier pay period does not cover the transfer, then the difference will be taken from the subsequent pay period.

What is Save by DailyPay?

With AutoSave you can set aside a recurring amount to be transferred from your available balance into your savings account every payday. With Direct Save you can save different amounts, each pay period, on-demand at any time. Check out this flyer for more information.

How else can DailyPay help me manage my finances?

How do I enroll in DailyPay?

Once you have opted-in to DailyPay with Carle Health, you you may enroll in DailyPay with your Carle Health email address. You will need to download the app or access the site through your browser at https://account.dailypay.com/signup. In the Apple AppStore or Google Play, the app is titled DailyPay On-Demand Pay.

Can I use DailyPay if I get paper checks?

No, DailyPay is designed to work with those being paid via direct deposit, either to a checking/savings account or a Friday card. Once a team member elects to received their pay from DailyPay instead of a paper check, they will no longer receive paper checks from Carle Health. All income will be deposited to a Friday card going forward.

What if a team member does not have a bank account?

DailyPay offers a free reloadable Visa card, called a Friday card. It is designed to support eligible team members who are unbanked, underbanked or want a no-fee way to instantly access their earned pay. This no-cost option is made available to team members when they elect their first transfer of funds. The Friday card will become their form of direct deposit going forward, also replacing paper checks from Carle Health if they elected this option previously. The remainder of their pay, minus any transfers, will be loaded to their Friday Card on the usual pay day.

What if I have multiple bank accounts set up for direct deposit in Lawson?

Team members can set up to three bank accounts (checking or savings) with DailyPay.

Is DailyPay a loan?

DailyPay is not a loan. The amount of money that you have access to is based on your approved hours – meaning that you have already earned this money, it just hasn’t been paid out to you yet.

When do new shift earnings post in an employee’s Available Balance?

The exact timing of an earnings update is dependent on when hours are submitted and when the data is received by DailyPay. Earnings files are sent to DailyPay at 6:20 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 6:20 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. Please take into consideration the processing time of files and the understanding that any shift ended after 9:20 p.m. will not be sent over to DailyPay until 6:20 a.m. the following day.  Data received by DailyPay will not include premium pay for eligible shifts worked.  Premium pay will simply be paid for eligible shifts on your regularly scheduled payday.

What is the Available Balance?

A team member’s available balance is an approximation of earnings based on the hours that they have worked, excluding any overtime, bonuses, reimbursements, differentials, premium pay, commissions, tips and withholdings (taxes, garnishments, etc.). With each shift worked, the available balance increases. Therefore, team members who pick up additional shifts will see their available balance increase after each shift worked.

When will I see my Available Balance increase?

For each active work hour, you will build an Available Balance. Your hours will be updated several times a day from Carle to DailyPay and your earnings will be updated with the next feed after your shift. Each shift reported is capped at a maximum of $770.00 per day towards the Available Balance for both hourly and salaried team members. This means that earnings above this limit for any shift are not available in advance, and will not go over to DailyPay. These earnings will be available on the regular Carle Health payday.

Is there a difference between hourly and salaried team members?

Regardless of hourly or salary status, once a team member elects to take their first transfer and the DailyPay account is confirmed as their record of direct deposit, they are eligible for Continuous Pay Access.

Before an hourly team member takes their first transfer they will see each shift count towards their Available Balance after their hours are reported to DailyPay. Before taking their first transfer, salaried team members will see their earnings count toward their Available Balance starting on the fourth business day of each pay period at 8 p.m. CST.

What’s the maximum and minimum dollar amount I can transfer in a day?

You can transfer your entire available balance in a single day, up to $1,000. The minimum is $5.

What if I don’t make a transfer during a pay period?

Your pay will continue to be deposited by Carle Health into your accounts listed in Lawson Self-Service until you make your first transfer through DailyPay. Once you elect your first transfer, Carle Health will update your direct deposit as DailyPay. If after this time, you make no transfers during a given pay period, your entire available balance will be deposited into your bank account(s) through DailyPay on your regularly scheduled payday.

What if I missed the deadline and I want to opt-in to the DailyPay benefit?

If you missed the initial opt-in period, you can opt-in any time. Please note that it will take about a day for DailyPay to receive your information from Carle Health and set up your account when you enroll.

Follow these steps to opt-in via Lawson anytime:

Select “Employee Opt-In Programs” under the Quick Links

Select “Change” next to DailyPay in the Program selections

Select “Yes, I choose to Opt-In” in the drop down menu

Select “Update”

What if I change my mind and I want to opt-out?

Once you are enrolled, you can cancel your account with DailyPay at any time. You can cancel via the DailyPay app at https://get.dailypay.com/ or via their employee support team at employee.support@dailypay.com or (866) 432-0472. Please note that by cancelling, this still allows your information to be shared with DailyPay and makes it easier to re-enroll in the benefit if you so choose in the future.

To completely opt-out and elect for Carle Health to stop sending your information to DailyPay, please request this change in Lawson Employee Self Service. After logging in to Lawson, select “Employee Opt-In Programs” under the Quick Links. Then select “Change” next to DailyPay in the Program selections. Select “No” in the drop down menu and then select “Update.”

Keep in mind that you will be unable to enroll back into direct deposit immediately following your opt-out of DailyPay. You will receive a paper check during this time frame.

Once 30 days has passed, make sure you add or confirm your direct deposit information in Lawson following this order: Click “My Payroll.” Click ”Direct Deposit Setup.” Add, edit or cancel your direct deposit information. Pay attention for the direct deposit notification you will receive immediately following your changes. If you receive this email communication, your direct deposit changes have gone through. Direct deposit updates must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the Tuesday of a payroll week to be effective for that pay period.

Who is eligible to participate?

DailyPay is open to any team member who is in a non-physician position with compensation below $100/ hour or $200,000 annually, and team members who are not on reduced hours.
