Bereavement Funeral Leave

Full-time employees are allowed up to three paid bereavement days in the event of the death of an immediate family member.

An additional two paid days will be granted for the death of a spouse or child. Bereavement time off does not have to be used in consecutive shifts or days worked.

Part-time employees are allowed up to two normal scheduled days of bereavement time off. Bereavement leave is available upon hire.

Please notify your manager as soon as possible regarding dates of the requested bereavement time.

Immediate family members are defined as:

Father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step- parents, step-son, step-daughter, step-brothers, step-sisters, step-grandparents, legal guardian or other persons with whom the employee has a "loco parentis" relationship, spouse or party to a civil union.

In-law equivalents covered as "immediate family members" include: 

Father in-law, mother in-law, son in- law, daughter in-law, brother in-law, and sister in-law.

Also covered under in-law equivalents are the respective in-law equivalents to legal guardians, or other persons with whom the employee has a "loco parentis" relationship, spouse, or party to a civil union.
